What is a Mentally Healthy Workplace?
Mental health is a state of wellbeing that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realise their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community (World Health Organization, 2022).
A mentally healthy workplace is a workplace that supports and encourages the development of employee mental health.
It is a workplace where:
- People feel good about coming to work,
- People feel free to speak about concerns or stress,
- Workplace risks to mental health are minimised,
- People both with and without mental health conditions feel supported and able to do their best work, and
- There is a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination.
