Next Wave Case Study: Bron & Elly
Alexandra Indoor Heated Pool Inc (AIHP) is a volunteer, committee-run swim school created by parents of children in the beautiful Murrindindi Shire region, on Taungurung country in Victoria’s Alpine region, to meet the needs of the community in Alexandra.
The group’s objective is to provide a cost-effective heated pool in a venue that can be utilised twelve months of the year for the health, wellbeing, and safety of all Murrindindi residents.
Next Wave, supported by Jobs Victoria, has enabled AIHP to employ both Bron and Elly as swim teachers. Elly relocated to regional Victoria to find a better work life balance with her son, and was able to find employment in a nearby town but with over an hour travel time to work. AIHP was able to provide her work much closer to home, and further her skills and qualifications.
Elly introduced Bron to the career, who was looking for meaningful work to fit around family life.
Next Wave will be funding Elly to become trained in Aqua Aerobics, enabling AIHP to offer services to other cohorts within the Alexandra community. Next Wave will also fund Bron to obtain her Infant and Preschool endorsement. Next Wave have also supported AIHP to employ their Customer Service Officer, Sally, ensuring that AIHP Inc can operate as a sustainable business while also keeping their community values at their core.
