Industry Conference 2023: Recap

Last week, ARV welcomed over 300 delegates to the ARV Industry Conference 2023 supported by Perfect Gym.

Over three days, the Industry Conference brought together those who own, operate, manage, supply and work within Victorian Aquatics and Recreation facilities. We were also delighted to welcome guests from interstate - even international guests who flew in from New Zealand.

The first day of the conference were site tours. Delegates attended three Metropolitan facilities.

Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre welcomed delegates and demonstrated their sustainability principles in action. SPLASH Aqua Park and Leisure Centre showcased their new false floor to adjust the 50m pools depth.

The last site tour was at Fawkner Leisure Centre, and provided delegates with the opportunity to view the under-redevelopment centre. The tour was conducted by the Active Merri-bek team alongside McConnell Dowell's Built Environs creative construction team who designed the new facility. Thanks to all venues and their teams for generously showing us around and sharing knowledge.

The conference program on Thursday and Friday treated delegates to presentations responding to six key themes under the overarching theme: Building a sustainable future.

On Day 1, keynotes from Fiori Giovanni, Motivational Speaker, and Sonja Hood, President – North Melbourne Football Club and CEO, Community Hubs Australia, created fantastic bookends to an excellent day of content.

Day 2 kick started with two energising keynotes from Hamish McLachlan, Broadcaster, and Simon Kuestenmacher, Demographer. This was followed by another day of excellent content.

Our presenters from both within and outside the industry shared their shared experiences, research, knowledge and thoughts for the future which ARV is excited to pursue in the coming weeks and months.

Our traders in the Trade Expo provided delegates with many options for innovations and services.
