ARV Coronavirus Update 18 March 2020
Published Wed 18 Mar 2020
ARV CEO Update - Kathy Parton
As you are all aware the management of the COVID-19 epidemic is a rapidly changing and fluid environment. Outlined below is further information and advice from Government authorities and its relevance to our Aquatics and Recreation Industry and updated information regarding ARV activities.
Update on Coronavirus measures and their impact on Aquatics and Recreation Industry
The second National Cabinet meeting was held last night and agreed to further measures and actions to protect the Australian community from the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). The outcomes below
Key outcomes include:
-
Settings like gyms, indoor fitness centres and swimming pools are NOT required to close at this time providing they meet these requirements for social distancing and hand hygiene. Such venues should take actions to ensure regular high standards of environmental cleaning take place.
- All of these venues should continue to apply social distancing and hygiene practices. This includes being able to maintain a distance of 1.5 metres between patrons. Hand hygiene products and suitable waste receptacles need to be available, with frequent cleaning and waste disposal.
- The new restrictions for indoor venues come into effect at 5pm today and will mean that any gathering at venues that have more than 100 people cannot occur
Following a review of this information and venue operations it is expected that industry and members may need to consider significant changes to the operation of some venues, such as reducing the maximum capacity, increasing the space available or ceasing the operation of some services.
ARV events and activities
Due to the escalation of COVID-19, the
- ARV Regional Conference,
- ARV Life Members luncheon, and
- Membership and industry Programs listed in ARV event calendar prior to June have been postponed and will be rescheduled to a further date to be advised.
Obviously we are all very disappointed but our primary concern lies with the health and well-being of our members and partners.
