Mitigating Sexual Offences in ARC's and Child Safety

A large factor in our facilities in sexual predators and sexual offences around child safety. ARV will be bringing in a panel of SOCIT Police and Child Safety Officers to speak about how to protect children in these environments.
ARV have recently developed an online training module that will be available to all aquatic and recreation staff which will help train them in this area along with child safety. We aim to release this on the 10 April also in line with the SOCIT presentation.

- Who to contact
- Governance around releasing member details if you suspect a patron of this behaviour
- What we can do in swim programs to protect kids – ie. Teachers must supervise kids in change rooms for school groups

- How a child is being groomed
- What if you don’t report it/ what if you do ?
- Recognising a predator
- Approach or not approach?
- Sharing this information with neighbouring facilities?
- Common examples/ case studies of what staff should look out for in this environment
